Alsobrooks To Join U.S. Senate, First Black Woman to Represent Maryland 

Washington, D.C. — CBCPAC Chairman Rep. Gregory Meeks released the following statement celebrating the election of County Executive Angela Alsobrooks to the United States Senate: 

“County Executive Alsobrooks’ victory marks a historic achievement for Marylanders and the American people alike. Next Congress – for the first time in history – two Black women will serve in the United States Senate at the same time. Angela’s determination to deliver for Marylanders will serve people of every background and we will be proud to welcome her as a member of the Congressional Black Caucus.”
