CBCPAC ISSUES STATEMENT ON FRIVOLOUS, POLITICALLY MOTIVATED ATTACK TO BLOCK SYKES’ RIGHT TO VOTE FOR HERSELF
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressional Black Caucus PAC Chairman Rep. Gregory Meeks released the following statement regarding Ohio Republicans’ attack on Congresswoman Sykes’ right to vote for herself:
“In the waning days of this election, with the protection of our very democracy on the line, Ohio Republicans are showing us they’re willing to suppress the vote of a U.S. Congresswoman rather than run a campaign on the issues. This frivolous attack on Congresswoman Sykes’ residency is in fact a threat to our democracy and reminiscent of Jim Crow Era politics. We’ve seen this show before and we are not going back, and neither are Ohioans. In less than two weeks Ohians will vote to keep moving Ohio’s 13th forward by re-electing one of their own, lifelong Akron resident Congresswoman Emilia Sykes.”
